In 2000, Foster Learning Inc. was commissioned by the Lloydminster and District Co-operative Ltd. to develop a teaching unit, complete with student and teacher friendly resources and materials, to teach the concepts of co-operativism to elementary aged students. The result was Co-operation in Action, a step by step teacher's manual which supplied the teacher with a wealth of resources and detailed lesson plans, and Your Co-operAction Kit, a highly visually appealing student workbook complete with all necessary student resources.

In January of 2001, the course was piloted at at a grade five level in Jack Kemp Elementary School and Marsden School in Saskatchewan. Teacher's and students were highly receptive to the unit of study. Students in particular were highly motivated by the hands-on lessons. For example, one lesson had students working in groups to assess a community need, and then taking it one step further by taking steps to put their plan into action.
